I am 18 years old and I share a room with my 3 year old daughter. (yes I am a teen mom...) I live with my parents in a 5 bedroom home (I have four younger siblings) so I share a room with my daughter and my brothers (who are twins) share a room. I guess the point I am getting to is... Since my daughter and I have different tastes, how can I decorate our room to where we both agree. Her favorite color is pink and the furniture in our room is currently a dark/cherry oak color and I am going to keep it that way. How should I do curtains, room paint, carpet, bedding, etc? I want it to be sophisticated with edge but also something pretty and pink so that we both can be satisfied but I don't know what theme to go with... any answers?
lol... i think what I meant to say is that I share a room with my daughter... not my brothers... lol... my brothers have their own room in which they both share!

Well for the wall color, you could do something close to pink, but not quite, like a light terracotta or a peach. You should go get a bunch of color swatches that you like and then let her choose out of those. In fact you could do that for everything. Go by yourself to make a few selections of everything-bedspreads, curtains, etc, and then take her out with you to make the final decision. Perhaps the curtains could be striped, with pink as one of the colors.

You should do a light pink on the walls. Put decorative pillows that are floral to suit your daughters opinion. Make the floor a dark wooden floor or laminate. (Laminate looks even better than hard wood in my opinion.)

dont put too much into what ur daughter wants because in a few years she wont have the same taste so stay clear of for example a dora the explorer room. maybe you could have half the room boys anf the other part girls that would be cool

Have the bedroom how you like it with the dark cherry oak colors but make a section of the room hers. Make a section where you put up those mesh curtains up around her section around her bed and stuff and put her taste of colors in there. That way you both feel like you have your own space and can be together at the same time. Good luck and good job with raising your baby.

Wow.. Im still trying to digest that you are 18 with a 3 year old daughter.. Seems to me that you would both have the same tastes. Im going to be totally honest with you.. If you were my daughter living at home at 18 with a 3 year old daughter and I was taking care of 4 others of my own.. I would be pretty disapointed if you spent money decorating your room in my house..
