Buy bright tiles in various colours and textures and some small cut mirrors. Then make pretty motifs with mirrors on the tiles, and decorate the tiles around home.

If you don't have a theme in mind, I suggest you cruise by thrift stores and see what you find. One man's trash might be another man's treasure... or something like that. Have fun!

Paint is a very inexpensive way to change the ways rooms look and feel. If you do it yourself. Also, if you have a color printer, you can print out some of your favorite pics and frame them. Moving the furniture around sometimes help, and so does painting some of your furniture to look new. Curtain panels can be bought at Target or walmart for very little money... and so can fun throw rugs and lamps.

Hgtv.com has tons of great ideas.http://www.hgtv.com/I like to go through that website, or through magazines to get some ideas. Then I take them, and do a reasonable, inexpensive facsimile.

Find an item, picture, material, wall paper etc. with colors or patterns that you like. Take those with you to the store to match paint(soooo simple)and accessories. When you use art or wall paper the artist has already combined colors that complement each other and it takes the guess work out of it. Carry your swatches with you so that when you come across something that you like you can compare it with the swatches so you don't take chances or get distracted with the price.
