Maybe go with soft blue walls-remember it will look darker up than in the can. Use those throw away brushes and white paint and (you can practice on posterboard) scrub/pound clouds onto the walls. You destroy the brush but if you dry it out of paint a bit by dabbing it on pp towells it works great-it can look like airbrushing so the room doesn't look like its covered in "spots". Mary Englebrites "wallies" have some very cute fairies you could fly across the walls and ontothe ceiling. You could even take satin ribbon (small) for them to hang between them-like a canopy over her bed and down the wall-just a couple. I bought my daughter a solid bedspread and had great fun with the pillows. She could even use covers on big throw pillows on the floor (you can get then at wallmart for 6.00-pillows). Make an easy off envelope type cover you can wash. Use white furniure- I repainted mine and then sanded it for a shabby look.Think maybe some glitter on the lamp shade, or on the toss pillows (the squeeze kind-you could outline the florals etc) Mine is 13 now and has gone to marilyn monroe and old vogue prints, and grease (the movie) so we are switching to b/w photos and soft turquoise and white-it looks hot! I got a great side table at goodwill for 15.00 and painted it (use liquid sandpaper-its great) and painted her lamp as well as edging it with "glass" bead fringe on the shade-you'd be surprized what you can find in second hand stores, target, ikea and walmart-and it doesn't have to look cheap. All her friends love her room.
