Default Value of landscaping?

We're thinking of re-doing our landscaping. What is the thinking on how much value that adds to a property's value? Do you at least get your money back?

Depending on how big your piece of land is and what you are putting in it, the expected returns are 50% of your investment to say the least.

The info I've been given differs somewhat from the previous answer... I've heard that for a normal neighborhood home it's hard to get your money back on landscaping because most people believe that they can do it themselves. I.e., once you get past the basic "curb appeal" (meaning it looks "nice" and not like a war zone), any money you put in will be hard to get back out.
