How often and with what do you water your lawn/yard?

Despite the fact that I work, I try to give my yard a quick water every other day, and I make sure to soak the grass pretty decent so it'll last. I use just a plain ol' hose with no nozzle or anything. I don't like sprinklers because to me they don't cover the ground good. What do you do?
