...curing up, what should we do? We hired a contractor to redo the roof, should we go after them to fix it?

As a contractor I would say either take the reciept back to the place you bought the shingles (if they have a 10-20 yr warranty which most do). If not then it's time to replace them and doing so with quality materials and quality workers is the key!!!
