Default Electrical problems. Elec-friend said I "arced" an outlet, he replaced outlet,...

...but still no power. Breaker ok In the room affected, 3 outlets are out, with one in the middle working. Upstairs, one room has 2 outlets out - again, with one working. I called the home warranty people - so - we'll see what they have to say. Anyone else have ideas?
If a wire is burnt out - is this easy to replace? Do you think it will be covered under our so-called home warranty? The condo is 33 years old. It was actually well built - in the appraisal, it's affective age was 15 years. Honestly, we have some of the original stuff in this house that still works. Of course, between me and my 2 kids - we're slowly killing off the old stuff Thanks for the answers.

Also - is this a common thing to happen? What's the life of a wire anyway?

Thanks!
