Re: how hard is it to install your own carpet?
I was in the floor installation business for 10 years. I do most everything myself but installing carpet in one thing I would suggest hiring a professional. If you have a small room with no seams you may want to give it a try but stretching the carpet can still be tough if you don't no what your doing.
If you have a larger room with seams please hire a pro. By the time you purchase the carpet, rent the proper tools you won't be saving very much. Then when you mess it up and have to hire someone to fix it it will cost you more than just hiring the pro in the first place. I have been on several jobs when customers tried to do it themselves and it can be a nightmare to repair.
